Jalena is currently a fellow at the Jacob Burns Film Center working on a short documentary NADYA which follows Nadya Okamoto, young girlboss, as she decides if she'll stay at Harvard or drop out to pursue her activism full time. 


Standing Above The Clouds (Work in Progress)

Standing Above the Clouds is a feature film Jalena is directing and currently fundraising for. Standing Above the Clouds follows the Native Hawaiian activists working to protect their sacred mountain, Mauna Kea, from a proposed Thirty-Meter Telescope. 


The Construct: Female Laborers and the Fight for Equality (2017)

Trailer for Jalena's documentary directorial debut The Construct: Female Laborers and the Fight for EqualityThe Construct follows San Thi Da, a 20 year-old construction worker, and Cheery Zahau, a human rights activist to examine feminism among different socio-economic classes in Yangon, Mynamar. Along with winning Best Student Film at Impact Docs and Best Short Film at the Albany Film Festival, The Construct has screened at film festivals around the country.
